Dedicated or universal wiring?
Dedicated vehicle-specific kits
A dedicated kit is designed for a particular vehicle application. It may use suitable vehicle connectors and a compatible control module, supporting the towing functions specified by the vehicle and kit manufacturer. We check model, year, trim and any factory towing preparation.
Universal wiring kits
Universal kits can provide trailer lighting connections on suitable applications, but do not necessarily integrate with a vehicle’s towing functions in the same way. We recommend the wiring approach for your actual vehicle rather than treating one kit as suitable for every car.

Where coding is required for the quoted installation, it is included. Send us your registration and towing requirements so we can check the appropriate equipment and explain the work before you book.

Explain supported features
Depending on the vehicle and fitted kit, supported functions can include trailer recognition, lighting monitoring, parking-sensor behaviour and towing-related stability functions. We explain the features applicable to your installation without promising that every vehicle has all of them.

Fit and code where required
Some vehicle and wiring-kit combinations need coding to recognise the towing equipment and enable supported functions. Others are designed to work without coding. We follow the relevant fitting instructions; age or badge alone does not determine the answer.

Test and hand over
We check the fitted connections and explain the socket, plug or adapter you will use. If you need extra caravan power circuits, tell us before fitting so the required equipment can be included and tested.
7-pin or 13-pin electrics?
7-pin: basic trailer lighting
A standard 7-pin connection provides the usual trailer road-lighting functions, such as indicators, brake lights, tail lights and fog light. It can suit compatible trailers and cycle-carrier lighting boards. It does not provide the additional connections available in a 13-pin setup.
13-pin: lighting and extra circuits
A 13-pin connection supports additional functions such as reversing lights. Caravan battery charging, refrigerator or other power supplies depend on the actual kit and circuits fitted; they are not guaranteed simply because the socket has 13 pins.
Caravans and horseboxes
Tell us about the plug, stabilisation equipment and any interior or auxiliary power requirements. We check the circuits needed for your caravan or horsebox and include the appropriate equipment in the quote.
Adapters and future needs
An adapter can help with some plug combinations, but it cannot create a power circuit that has not been installed. We discuss your current equipment and likely future use when choosing the socket and wiring.

Fixed or detachable
We supply and fit fixed flange, swan neck and detachable towbars, subject to vehicle compatibility. The towbar and electrical kit are selected together to suit your vehicle and intended use.
