Why choose a detachable towbar?
A cleaner appearance
The towbar neck can be removed when you are not towing. The remaining socket and mounting arrangement depend on the vehicle and selected towbar, so we explain how the installation will look before you book.
Caravans and trailers
A detachable towbar may suit regular caravan or trailer towing when the vehicle and towbar are rated for the intended load. Tell us about any AL-KO stabiliser or other coupling so we can check compatibility and clearance.
Parking sensors and everyday use
Removing the towball can help avoid interference with some parking-sensor arrangements. We check the vehicle-specific installation and demonstrate how to fit, lock, remove and store the neck correctly.
Bike carriers and e-bikes
A suitable detachable towbar can carry a compatible cycle carrier. We check the weight of the carrier and bikes against the vehicle, towbar and carrier limits. Heavier e-bikes make that weight check particularly important.

A fixed flange or swan neck remains in place, ready for regular towing. Some flange installations offer additional hitch or accessory choices. We can compare suitable products rather than treating one design as right for every vehicle.

We select a dedicated wiring kit for the vehicle and the equipment you tow. We discuss 7-pin or 13-pin connections and any additional caravan circuits. Coding is included in your quote where the vehicle and kit require it.

We arrange mobile fitting at a suitable home or workplace location, check the installation and demonstrate the detachable mechanism. Vehicle details are checked first, including the model, year, trim and towing approval.
